Why Choose The Little Schoolhouse?

• An Inspiring Curriculum
Compiled over the years by our talented and creative teachers, the curriculum at The Little Schoolhouse is play-based and theme-oriented. Most of our curriculum resources are from Harcourt Pebble Soup, Rigby, and Lakeshore Learning Supply. The teachers diligently plan activities around a theme and then engage children with a proactive, hands-on approach. Our younger students, aged 2 through 4, focus on a specific theme, letter, number, color and shape every two weeks.

A Pleasant Environment

In the classrooms as well as on the playground, The Little Schoolhouse has invested in a superb selection of educational toys and equipment. Everyone loves our spacious artificial turf play yard on which the children ride high-quality tricycles, swing, climb, and play ball! They also love the shade canopies for some protection from the sun..

Variety

Enhancing the Harcourt and Rigby curriculum resources, we use a variety of approaches to maximise each child’s learning experience. To reinforce a concept, you may find us making a papier-maché dino-land or gluing popcorn on the letter “P”. Here at The Little Schoolhouse we are attentive to each child’s individual needs. All activities, including the Sports Program, Music and Spanish Lessons, are developmentally appropriate..

Manners & Confidence

In social situations, we assist and support children as they learn self control and to respond positively. Teachers help children gain social confidence by encouraging young friends to use kind words in sharing situations.

Magic & Fun

Songs, stories, posters, and puppets are used to develop language and literacy skills. Creative movement is another magical and fun way to increase young attention spans.

Our Vision & Mission :
Our History

The Little Schoolhouse

" The happiest school in Nassau."

The Little Schoolhouse was the result of a collaboration and vision by the founders, Michaela and Uwe Kutz and Kara Nottage, in the year 2000.

Our shared vision and collaboration came to fruition with a class of five there-year old boys and girls with a teacher who liked to be addressed as Ms. Kara.

Our growth over the decade and a half is evident in each facet of the development of the school.

From the people, to the building, and to the resources The Little Schoolhouse happily evolves.

Our Facilities

The preschool years are when children are most enthusiastic about learning. They need developmentally-appropriate sensory experiences, opportunities to discover and explore, entwined with social and language interaction.  An array of high-quality resources coupled with early childhood educators who are invested in the best teaching practices produces children who are well-adjusted and intellectually-prepared for the next steps in education.

Classroom

Throughout our classrooms you’ll see innovative educational materials that spark our childrens’ imaginations, foster a sense of wonder, and instill a love of learning. With these facilities children have fun while they attain developmental milestones and achieve their educational goals.

Playground

Hands-on activities that involve children working together and with teachers have the benefit of improving several skills at once. For example, one activity can enhance problem solving, cooperative learning and peer interaction. It is through these methods that preschool students learn the most.

Games to Learn

If they have the proper tools to access and use knowledge, they are more likely to retain the motivation to learn throughout their schooling. Games and activities are more than just fun for a preschooler—they also help with physical development and early learning.

Instructional Materials

Our skilled teachers incorporate games, music and songs, role-play, building blocks and creative arts to enhance the academic pursuits. These tools are designed to hold a child’s interest long enough to teach a skill. Children need frequent exposure to a variety of these instructional methods every day so skills are practiced and applied often.
